Committee members considered 18 bills and 3 draft resolutions out of 29 issues during 7 meetings.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in entirety 5 laws submitted by the Committee; 6 - in the first reading; one bill was rejected and withdrawn from consideration; 6 bills were prepared for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Committee submitted 25 preliminary conclusions on the bills that pertain to other committees.
Committee members initiated parliamentary hearings in the Verkhovna Rada in May.
As followed by the results of the hearings the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Resolution "On the State and Prospects of Development of the Military Organization and Security Sector in Ukraine".
During the tenth session the Committee held several round-table discussions.
In order to control the fulfillment of article 11 of the Law ‘On Principles of National Security" the Committee considered information from the Ministry of Defence regarding the results of fulfillment of the State Program on Development of Armed Forces of Ukraine for 2006-2011.
The Committee addressed the President of Ukraine regarding the situation around the stay of Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Committee members addressed the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine V.Lutkovska concerning the implementation of the part two, article 11 of the Law "On Democratic Civil Control over the Military Organization and Law Enforcement Agencies of the Country".
Committee members continued personal reception of citizens. They considered 365 letters with suggestions, statements and citizens? complaints on different issues during the tenth session.
The Committee also held the meeting with the US National War College delegation; the representatives of Hungarian and Great Britain Embassies as well as with the participants of the Student?s President Internship and deputies of the Student Parliament of Ukraine 2011/2012.
The Committee Secretariat informed that 10 bills are under preparation to be considered during the next session.
